Don Campbell, author of the Enchanted Characters and Imagination series, was born in Eastern Kentucky and spent much of his early life in Lexington. He graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in Allied Health and works as an X-ray technician (ARRT), general ultrasound sonographer (ARDMS, AB, OB), and vascular ultrasound sonographer (RVT, VT). He also holds a BA in Business Economics and an MBA in Business Finance from Ottawa University.

For more than fifty years, Campbell has written poetry, creating over 350 poems and songs. The short stories in his series began as bedtime tales for his children during the 1970s through the 1990s, with some pieces dating back to the 1960s. His children later encouraged him to compile these stories into books for their own families, giving rise to the Enchanted Characters and Imagination collection. Campbell lived and worked overseas for over twenty years, including time in the Middle East.
